The purpose of this site is to help CSU, Chico students find a mentor. You may review the mentor profiles to help find a mentor that you feel may be appropriate for you.

Why find a mentor?
You benefit from developing career and life skills. Students get mentored by folks that have been there and can pass along lessons learned from their successes and failures. You benefit from the invaluable experience of sharing with good listeners.

Next step?
Those who want to learn how to navigate the site can go to FAQ. Review and compare the mentor profiles on the Mentors Roster page. Find mentors by career using the Search box on every page. Or see Mentors by Career page for a simple listing. Email the mentor(s) that you are interested in and ask them questions. Once you pare it down to one candidate, meet with that person to see if the chemistry is right. Remember this is a mutual relationship. Both sides must want to proceed.

Is there a commitment?
We suggest a mutual commitment of a semester. You could meet once a month, every two weeks or weekly. Some mentoring could be done over the phone if meeting is not convenient. At the end of the semester, you both decide where you go from there.

What if it doesn’t work out?
That happens sometimes. If it occurs, it’s important to deal with it directly. Have a frank discussion. Not every partnership works out. Perhaps a new relationship would be best. We will do everything that we can to make this a helpful and rewarding experience for you.

What is the Library section?
This is a very good selection of articles on the principles of success in both career and life.
